Since Saturday Morning, we are fresh out of lockdown. But right when we wanted to start enjoying our new freedom, a wild tree appeared!

Well, ok. It wasn’t wild and it also didn’t appear all of a sudden. After what felt like forever, we just had our first non-take-away breakfast, sitting down, drinking coffee from a ceramic mug.

Still happy about our new freedoms, we returned to the van, which was parked in a very green side street. I attempted a perfect three-point turn to return back to the main street. And just when I felt like I had executed it flawlessly, we heard a very loud noise as if something really heavy had fallen over. I smashed the breaks but it was already too late. One of the trees in the little street had a fairly low branch. It was high enough that I didn’t notice it, but not high enough to clear our roof. So congrats to myself, I just had my first crash with a tree. Luckily, the damage wasn’t too bad. There is now a fairly embarrassing dent in the roof, the roof-rack is a bit bend and was pushed back about 15cm. And there was a giant branch on our roof.

We cleared the branch off the roof, which was a bit tricky. It was quite heavy and we don’t have a ladder in the car. And later that day, we repositioned and reattached the roof rack. Luckily, neither the solar not the ceiling fan got damaged. That would have been bad…

Anyways, we are happy to be free again, to be able to dine in again, enjoy happy hour or eat cake off a plate. Let’s see how long it’ll last…
